1987 Chevrolet Corvette Coupe
Chevrolet has been pumping out Corvettes for 68 years, building about 1.5 million of them since 1953. That makes the ‘Vette one of the most popular sports cars of all time. First and second-generation Corvettes were one of the first true collectible cars of the modern era, and collecting Corvettes remains a global phenomenon. For consignment, we offer the 1987 version of America’s sports car. An upgraded option engine in the 5.7 Liter V8, and improved exhaust system, are just a few performance enhancements for this year versus the previous year.
Exterior
All clean Bright Red fiberglass in good condition. Some dulling in the paint and some areas of overspray, however mostly unremarkable, are noted. Dual electric controlled sport mirrors, and a smoked transparent lift off roof panel is seen. Aluminum wheels and blackwall radials are bolted on all 4 corners.
Interior
Graphite cloth buckets now with black cloth seat covers have power-controlled adjustments and grace the inside of this Vette. A digital driver information system is seen on the curvaceous dash to monitor all vital functions, as well as the 4-speed manual transmission shifter that offers overdrive. Power windows, and power steering as well as a key fob remote access button will get you into the rear storage area that has enough room to house the removable top. An AM/FM radio belts out the tunes and the carpeting appears in good condition, as well as door panels.
Drivetrain
A 5.7 Liter T.P.I. V8 can be viewed within a clean engine bay with the flip of the hood. Bolted on the back is the 4+3 Doug Nash manual transmission, with overdrive. Keeping everything cool is an all-electric fan cooling system. A 3.08 geared limited slip axle puts power to the ground.
Undercarriage
Very clean and rust free and has been recently given the once over. A performance handling package has been added, as well as a new exhaust system. Independent C4 suspension with a fiberglass monoleaf springs provide the smooth corner carving ride.
Drive-Ability
A twist of the key and this car came to life with a pleasant rumble. With the roof section removed I could sit back and feel the pressure as you are pushed into your seat and let the wind blow through your hair. Overall, an enjoyable experience with all functions operating save for the horn.
