In 1987 the 350 small block was rated at 240 hp @ 4,000 rpm and 345 lb-ft @ 3,200 rpm these numbers might not compare to modern muscle numbers, but the Corvette overall was still a spirited ride.

Detroit had not broke the horsepower code at that time and was struggling to get back to the 300 HP threshold that smog controls choked out in the late 70s. These fuel injected small blocks were the first step back towards the performance that we once again take for granted today.
