1989 Camaro RS Convertible 5 speed manual with 350 TBI motor (Chevrolet Performance 350 C.I.D. Base Engine Assemblies 12681429) installed by the former owner. Motor has very mild cam, Edelbrock 3704 TBI Performer intake and new AC Delco EP381 high volume fuel pump, sender and pickup. Hedman headers with new custom mandrel bent 3” exhaust and Magnaflow muffler with dual original rectangular exhaust tips done by United Exhaust in Ronkonkoma. Car was dynoed at 265 hp at rear wheels as it sits in current configuration with custom prom chip from Brian Harris@TBIchips. MM5 merchandising option Hurst shifter with special factory 2-tone interior and matching silver racing stripe on the body. All suspension parts are IROC spec including steering box (quick ratio), springs and sway bars, aluminum drive-shaft and rare rear aluminum brake drums. Hayes clutch, Dana U-joints, Richmond 3.73 rear gears with a Detroit True Trac LSD. It has brand new new poly sway-bar bushings and new KYB AGX adjustable shocks and struts and new Dunlop summer tires with less than 1000 miles on them. New brakes last year with less than 1000 miles on them. New 3-core Champion aluminum radiator with new Corvette dual electric fans. Spohn subframe connectors, strut tower brace, and heavy duty transmission cross-member with the torque-arm isolator. New door hinge pins. 50hp NOS shot can be included or removed before sale – it made a difference, but nothing I wanted to play with. I have the original 305 motor the former owner gave me for restorative purposes. I also have a complete TPI system for it, and a spare convertible skeleton.
While this car is certainly quick, it’s not brutally fast. It’s the handling which is is truly remarkable – especially once the tires warm up. My neck hurts after a nice day of driving around and down winding roads! The car is spotless, rock solid, and extremely reliable. It spends all it’s time in the garage and always has. Convertible top is in good condition. I have an original HO Dual Snorkel air cleaner with scoops and ducting in like new condition which alone goes for $500+. Third gens are creeping up in value and this one is SPOTLESS and a keeper with the original AC Delco AM/FM radio with equalizer still functioning! More than $15,000 invested. Unfortunately, health issues and time constraints forces the sale of the car I love so dearly. Ask if you need more pics.
