This 1986 Pontiac Firebird Trans Am has been transformed into a one-of-a-kind restomod. That means you have a custom exterior, race-inspired interior, an upgraded suspension, and a performance-built 383ci stroker under the hood. If you’re looking for a sleeper we suggest you look elsewhere. It’s not that this one is not overly brazen, but you’ll never fly under the radar with a cowl hood rising so boldly. And the wraparound rear spoiler looks like it’s borrowed from its successor. There and the darkness continues on the 18-inch Foose wheels and black racing stripes painted over the top – all just to make sure this one has an attitude. And you can see it all so well because the sleek body is presented in quite a crisp white. In fact, while we’re told much of the restoration/transformation on this car took place about a decade ago, the fit and finish of this T/A will put some 2020 builds to shame. The interior shows off more of the car’s dark side while also being quite clean and inviting. You have nice velour upholstery, power windows, a center console, cruise control, and an upgraded AM/FM/CD/XM stereo with Bluetooth. You’ll even notice nice race-ready details, like the shift light under the cowl, a mounted fire extinguisher, and the factory A/C deleted for pure power. And you’ll appreciate the driving experience. You have the excellent bucket seats borrowed from a GTA, a B&M shifter, an upgraded sports steering wheel on a tilt column, and a full set of AutoMeter Phantom readouts. All the extra performance flair inside and out is earned when you see what’s under the hood. This is a 383 cubic-inch stroker V8. More than just big displacement, it’s a fully enhanced and fortified build with an Eagle rotating assembly, Brodix heads, Jesel rockers, a Bullet Racing roller camshaft, a Brodix high-rise intake, and topped with a Holley four-barrel carburetor. There are also good supporting components like steel braided lines, an electric fan, and an MSD 6AL ignition. The mighty motor exhales with added power and authority as headers feed into an upgraded exhaust and resonator. This is said to be dyno tested to 590 horsepower, and this certainly feels like it has the power. So to make sure you harness it properly, there’s a stout 700R4 with a stall. It feeds into a Ford 9-inch limited-slip rear with 4.10 gears for powerful and confident take-offs. Speaking of confidence, this has added strength with subframe connectors and a center brace. There’s also an upgraded suspension with Currie control arms, newer bushings, Lakewood rear drag shocks, and Edelbrock boxed trailing arms. There’s also power steering, modern sport tires, and upgraded Wilwood four-wheel disc brakes with drilled rotors. This is the sleek 3rd-gen Trans Am with the kind of big muscle and flair that makes it feel like a 2nd-gen Super Duty. So it’s the one you always wanted it to have. Don’t let this custom T/A slip away. Call today!
