This particular 500SEC is available now and offered as a running and driving project. This 500SEC was originally delivered to the UK and was imported to the US within the last 3 years. This W126 was originally a white over blue example which was later converted to an AMG clone and resprayed in black. The recreation was fitted with original AMG front fenders and molded rear quarter panels. In addition, the proper lip kit and AMG wheels were equipped to complete the look. Photos documenting the build process available upon request. The body is free of major dings, dents or scratches. The wheels are in excellent condition and are free of bends, dings or curb rash.
The interior was reupholstered in red leather with black alcantara inserts which have begun to fade under the Florida sun. Overall, the interior shows well and is all there, but requires attention to detail to complete the transformation. The red leather and alcantara combination continues throughout the interior around the leather wrapped wheel, red leather dash which is free of cracks and door cards. The seats and door cards are free of rips or tears but require details for proper fitment. Custom aftermarket sound system was fitted to the doors and is still all there but could use a refresh. This W126 has been subject to multiple repairs and servicing, which we can provide records of, including a brake overhaul, timing chain, tensioners and guides, plugs & wires, cap & rotor, ball joints, fuel pump, reseal of the transmission and a replacement exhaust.
The engine runs like a top, accelerates through the rev range smoothly and sounds very healthy, the transmission is in operating order but is starting to show its age as the shifts are not as smooth as they once were.
This 500SEC runs ands drives but would be best considered as a running driving project, the perfect parts car or a good base for a revised power plant.
