For the last 5 years our beloved SL has been more like a child than a car. Originally registered in Sedona, AZ it spent time in Texas before coming to PA where the PO and I both kept it in heated garages. I have spent a great deal in converting from US to Euro specs, and it has been a joy to own.
All maintenance performed by Euro specialty shop, owner was MB tech from 1980-94:
Head gaskets and complete top end rebuild, fuel pump, driveshaft carrier bearing, motor mounts, all fluids/filters, Bilstein shocks, drilled/slotted front rotors, MSD ignition/wires, Dynomax SuperTurbo muffler (very mild tone, approximately 10% louder than stock) & catalytic converter deleted (it was plugged), & much more.

Imperfections
RF bumper support bracket is bent from accident in 2004 causing the front bumper to be slightly misaligned. The title appears to have carried a reconstructed marker after that, but was corrected by the state when I purchased the car in 2017; the current title is not reconstructed.

Overall she is a very good drivers classic, and while she is not a Concours car she has been to local shows and driven 500 – 800 miles a year. Understand that a car of this vintage nearing 38 years old will always require maintenance and additional sorting, but I believe most of the big ticket items have taken care of.
